Match 1

Had the first match up tonight! Tonight we had Giovanni's Brick Oven Pizza vs Olympic Pizza. Gina's was a no show. I tried calling them using a number I found online, and the phone just rang and rang. I looked them up in the Glastonbury chamber of commerce directory, found a different number, and someone at Friendly's pick up! Hahaha. Great. So Gina's swapped with Olympic for the first match until we figure out what the deal is there.


For the Giovanni's specialty pizza we were recommended with the Monterey Ranch Chicken pizza. It's got marinated chicken, ranch dressing, caramelized onion, bacon, and Monterey jack cheese.

One of the owner's of Olympic recommend the Mike's as the specialty. This is a red pie with boneless buffalo chicken, pepperoni, jalapanos, and mozzarella.

All were well received and it was difficult to pick winners. Some thought Olympic's sauce was great but the crust was too doughy, and others thought the Giovanni's specialty was full of flavor, but too filling. Here's the breakdown in the end.

Giovanni's Monterey Ranch Chicken specialty barely beats out the Mike's, and Olympic's cheese is one away from unanimous!

Pizza People

We are people. People who love pizza, but without pizza to love. Pizza people without pizza are just people. Sad people. And that's a problem we intend to fix. We are putting our new hometown of Glastonbury to the test. Where is the best local pizza in town?

The rules are simple: contenders face off in plain cheese and specialty pizza brackets. Judges sample each pizza and individually decide on the which is the better of both. The number of judges who side with a pizza is the score for that pizza. The pizza with the highest score wins.

We're keeping it local. Contenders must be local to Glastonbury and serve pizza for take out. Pizza must be a fair part of the menu too. Having only two pizzas on your menu doesn't make you a pizzeria. Here's the list.
